Lumina Artisan Lighting

Our Story

Light made with
intention.

We are a bridge between two worlds — the design sensibility of Los Angeles and the centuries-old craft tradition of San Miguel de Allende, México.

What We Believe

Craft is not a style.
It is a way of life.

In San Miguel de Allende, the workshops that make our lighting have been in operation for generations. The ironworkers, filigree artists, and glassblowers who create each piece learned their trade from their parents — who learned from theirs.

Lumina exists to bring that living tradition into American homes — and to ensure the artisans behind it are paid fairly, recognized fully, and supported to keep making.

Our Journey

How We Got Here

2008

Founded in San Miguel

Lumina Artisan Lighting was born from a single workshop in San Miguel de Allende — a collaboration between a Los Angeles designer and a family of third-generation ironworkers.

2012

First US Collection

Our first curated collection reached homes across California, bringing the warmth and craft of Mexican artisanship to American interiors for the first time.

2017

Custom Commissions Open

We opened our custom commission program, allowing clients to work directly with our artisans to create one-of-a-kind pieces for their homes and hospitality projects.

Today

Still Made by Hand

Every piece is still made entirely by hand in San Miguel de Allende and shipped from Los Angeles, California. Nothing has changed about how we work — and nothing will.
